Description

Chassis dynamometers have accompanied vehicles since the early 20th century. With the rise of automobiles, the demand to test engines and entire drivetrains started to increase quickly, paving the way for early chassis dynamometer technology.

The evolution of vehicles since then is mirrored by today’s chassis dynamometers that have developed into test bench power-houses with capabilities surpassing their origin models tremendously. Today’s solutions not only focus on testing engines and drivetrains solely tend more to the vehicle itself providing various additional features from fully automated test cycles with newest automation software and energy and charging concepts. Making this traditional test solution a backbone of mobility testing as we know it today.

This webinar will provide an overview of chassis dynamometer development based on HORIBAs long year experience with a focus on reliable determination of performance and efficiency, vehicle loss determination on the roller and full vehicle testing on chassis dynamometers in a wind tunnel. Additionally newest chassis dynameter concepts will be introduced providing insights on how the transit from combustion to hybrid and fully electrified mobility can be supported by these very concepts in alignment with newest regulations.
